- Close Heat Exchanger A and B.
- Disable OCC Circulation Pumps 1 and 2.
- Mode Conflict alarm will flash, press the acknowledge button on the Middle Reactor Console.
- Enable Shutdown Control Rods.
- Click the Reset button next to the acknowledge button on the Middle Reactor Console.
- Wait for the Out of Zone panel to flash, a bell will ring signalling the Shutdown Rods are fully removed.
- Enable Auto Control Rods.
- Type the numbers 1500 into the keypad next to the Auto Control Rods switch and click the
grey button to set.
- Once the reactor reaches 1500 MW enable Reactor Mode 2. Keep an eye on the Core Heat Distribution.
- Enable Feedwater Pump 1 and set it to speed 2.
- Enable Condensate Pump 1 and set it to speed 2.
Stage Two Startup
Withdraw Control Rods until power reaches 2100 MW.
Turbine A Run-up
- Call Engineering, click Turning gear, and disengage Turbine A.
- At the Turbine Panel enable the Synchroscope for Turbine A.
- Reduce Turbine A bypass valve to around 20-30% at the Turbine Panel.
- Slowly increase the Turbine Valve to around 60-70%
- The RPM should start rising, it should add 30 to the RPM every time it updates.
- Open the Grid Sync cap.
- Once the RPM reaches around +1775 RPM the Synchroscope will flash and make an audible sound when the needle passes over the black zone at the top of the gauge.
- Once the needle slows down and the RPM is around 1800, wait for the green light to light up and then click Grid Sync.
- If you synced it correctly the RPM will stabilize at 1800.
If sync is unsuccessful
- Click the Acknowledge button, the corresponding one to silence the Turbine Trip Alarm will be glowing.
- Wait for the RPM to drop below 600.
- Click the reset button next to the Acknowledge button you just pressed.
- Retry the Turbine Sync Process.
If sync is successful
- Acknowledge the Reverse Power alert.
- Increase the Turbine Valve SLOWLY to 100%.
- Decrease the Bypass valve to 0%.
- Once the generator load is positive click the Reset button next to the Acknowledge button.
- Enable Breaker 64 A-M.
- Call Engineering and click Reset Breakers.
- Set both Deaerator A and B Relief Valves to 25%.
- Set both Deaerator A and B Inlet Valves to 45%.
- Enable Condensate Pump 2.
- Enable Feedwater Pump 2.
- Open Deaerator A-B Bleed Valve.
Stage Three Startup
- Set Main Circulation Pumps A1 and A2 to speed 3.
- Enable Main Circulation Pump B1 and B2.
- Set Condenser Coolant Pumps A1 and A2 to speed 3.
- Type the numbers 3000 into the Auto Control Rod panel and click the grey button.
- Withdraw Control rods until power reaches 3000 MW, Keep an eye on Core Heat Distribution.
- Enable Condenser Coolant Pumps B1 and B2 and set to speed 3.
Turbine B Run-up
- Call Engineering, click Turning gear, and disengage Turbine B.
- At the Turbine Panel enable the Synchroscope for Turbine B.
- Reduce Turbine B bypass valve to around 20-30% at the Turbine Panel.
- Slowly increase the Turbine Valve to around 60-70%

- Acknowledge the Reverse Power alert.
- Increase the Turbine Valve SLOWLY to 100%.
- Decrease the Bypass valve to 0%.
- Once the generator load is positive click the Reset button next to the Acknowledge button.
- Enable Feedwater Pump 2 to speed 2.
- Enable Condensate Pump 2 to speed 2.
Stage Four Startup
- Type into the Auto Control Rods keypad 4000 MW.

Auto Bypass
The formula for what to input into each auto-bypass with extra efficiency is:
\( \frac{\text{Demand}}{2} + 12 = \text{...} \)
The formula for what to input into each auto-bypass without extra efficiency is:
\( \frac{\text{Demand}}{2} = \text{...} \)
Here's a basic calculator to help you figure this out!

AutoBalance MW (+12): —
The Deaerator significantly contributes to the amount of steam the reactor can produce; adjust the inlet and outlet valves accordingly.
